Easy Gluten Free Apple Crisp is a simple, homemade dessert using canned pie filling! The topping tastes like a traditional crisp, but without oats, it’s gluten and grain free!
One of my very favorite food bloggers, The Salty Marshmallow, made an easy Cherry Crisp and at the request of some of her followers, she asked me if I had ideas to make it gluten free. I was happy to take on the challenge of recreating it and my tastebuds are beyond thrilled with the version I came up with. Sidenote….trying to find cherry pie filling after Christmas proved to be impossible, so I went with what I could find, apple pie filling. Any fruit pie filling will work, but once our stores restock the cherry, I’ll be giving that a whirl too!
This apple crisp could not be easier to make. You’ll start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees and greasing your 8×8 inch baking dish (I used butter, coconut oil would work great too).
Enjoy the crisp straight from the oven with a scoop (or 2) of vanilla ice cream! Yum!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease 8x8 inch baking dish.
Pour both cans of apple pie filling in prepared dish and spread evenly.
Melt butter in a glass dish, then add all dry ingredients and combine with a fork, till crumbly.
Sprinkle topping evenly over apple pie filling.
Bake for 20 minutes, then broil for 2-3 minutes, till bubbly and golden brown.
