In a lot of ways, eating mostly grain and gluten free isn’t that hard, for me, but I do miss sandwiches. While you can buy grain free breads, rolls and wraps, they are not budget friendly, at all! I always prefer to make homemade when I can and I finally created a perfect and delicious bun recipe that my whole family approves of, even my husband (that’s a big deal, trust me)!

I’ve had this recipe on repeat in my kitchen lately and I can’t keep up. They disappear faster than I can make them! They work great with everything from our favorite burgers, bbq chicken and we’ve recently discovered that they make the best egg & sausage (or bacon) breakfast sandwiches! If you need me, I’ll be in the kitchen making these all summer long!

How To Make Yeast Free Buns

  • You’ll start by mixing together your dry ingredients; almond flour, tapioca flour, salt, baking powder & garlic powder.
  • In a small bowl, melt your butter and then whisk in eggs. Once the butter and eggs are well combined, add them into the dry ingredients and mix together (I like to use a fork).
  • Add in shredded cheese (I use Colby Jack, but any cheese will work) and fold the cheese into the batter.

bun dough

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and separate dough into 6 balls and place on paper.

buns

  • Bake buns at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Buns should be golden brown and cooked all the way through.

buns

  • Slice and serve hot with your favorite filling!

If you’re looking for some delicious side dish recipes to serve alongside these buns, I highly recommend roasted green beans and cheesy hashbrown casserole with cauliflower.
